Challenge: Breast Infection Mastitis

No
one wants to hear the words breast infection
when they are breastfeeding but some times a
mother may get the breast infection Mastitis
when she is breastfeeding. Rest assure that
although you have a breast infection your baby
can still nurse all they want and receive good
healthy milk from you. Mastitis is often a result
of a plugged duct and may be more likely to
occur if the other people in your home have

What
You Can Do to Get Rid
of the Breast Infection Mastitis
Don't
think that your have to wean or even partial wean because
you have a breast infection, you will heal a lot quicker
than if you wean and your breast milk will have antibodies
to help your baby fight off what ever infection that you
have.
Ask
for help if you can. Resting is so important when you have
Mastitis that ideally you will want to be in bed all day,
and take your baby in bed with you. If you have an older
baby who will become too bored laying in bed all day or
even in a swing that is beside your bed, try and find a
family member or friend that can entertain the baby, change
their diapers and watch them while you are napping or not
feeding them. Be sure to eat healthy and stay well hydrated.
In
the event that you get a fever that is over 101.5 degrees
or your fever last more 24 hours you will want to consult
your doctor. If your doctor wants to prescribe a medication
for your infection ask that they choose one that is safe
for nursing mothers.
